Happy Birthday

It's my birthday. (I was born on Sunday and this entry is on Sunday, so that makes it especially special.) I woke this morning with a song in my mind, "It's a Beautiful Morning", I'm posting it here and wishing everyone a beautiful morning, every morning.  The viedo even has sunflowers, what better birthday song could there be.

The Tree

You can hear the whole forest in a single tree! How lovely--the Christmas tree.

Once in a Blue Moon

I didn't take the photo; it's from Google Images. Isn't that an incredible source? So, once in a blue moon...yesterday, was once in a blue moon. Did you notice?
A blue moon is the second full moon that occurs within one month. There will be another one in  a couple of years, so it won't be so long to wait for things that happen "once in a blue moon", if it didn't happen in this one.
And isn't it sychronistic that Neil Armstrong's funeral would have been on a full moon. That has to bring a smile to your face.

What are little girls made of - Hushpuppy

Children can be so profound. Hushpuppy, in Beasts of the Southern Wild, is a character you will remember for a very long time, even if you might not be able to remember her words, you remember her voice, her strength, her perspective. The movie has fantasy, to which children tend to resort, when trying to understand what is happening around them; it also has reality that is almost unbearable. Hushpuppy has phenomenal insight.

She said, "The whole universe depends on everything fitting together just right. If one piece busts, even the smallest piece... the whole universe will get busted."
She said, "I see that I am a little piece of a big, big universe, and that makes it right."

Tiny Wonders in The Odd Life

I see that the movie released this week, "The Odd Life of Timothy Green" is not getting the best of reviews.  I went last night and in my opinion, it was worth every penny of the admission cost to see a year's worth of  leaves, Joni and Timothy's forest project, and to watch the young boy stop at any moment he chose to feel the sun on his face. It was like a deep breath....something we all need.

It doesn't have to be a perfect movie/event to give you something worthwhile. I'm for less criticism and more focus on the tiny wonders in this world, from wherever they come. Sometimes the value is outside the goal, make room for recognizing it; otherwise, you could miss some really good stuff!

Excerpt: Market day in Oaxaca, 1924 by DH Lawrence

A reminder that the universe is created for those who wander. I encourage us all to feel more at home with a desire to wander, when the expectation is to stay the course.

"...Strange that we should think in straight lines, when there are none, and talk of straight courses, when every course, sooner or later, is seen to be making the sweep round, swooping upon the centre. When space is cruved, and the cosmos is sphere within sphere, and the way from any point to any other point is round the bend of the inevitable, that turns as the tips of the broad wings of the hawk turn upwards, leaning upon the air like invisible  half of the ellipse. If I have a way to go, it will be round the swoop of a bend impinging centripetal towards the centre. The straight course is hacked out in wounds, against the will of the world."

What Are Little Girls Made Of?

Paraphrased from Gabby Douglas, new Olympic Gold Medal Winner, sixteen years old:

"It's a win/win situation. All the glory goes to God and the blessings rain down on me."

No matter your specific belief system, thatstatement is insightful appreciation of the power of faith.
