What Would You Do with an Extra Day?
My sister called the other day. She asked, “What would you do if you had an extra day?” As my head began to fill with ideas at the theoretical question, she chimed, “Well, you’ve got one!” I thought, “You’re a Jennie, not a genie!” Then she said, “It’s leap year, you have an extra day, February 29th…get busy.” And, she hung up.

What's Perfect?
I have a friend who is a perfectionist. This attribute makes me nervous; I have to work very hard not to feel like a slacker when I compare myself to her. Then, I have to remember not to compare myself to her. I think that I produce high-quality, innovative work that is oftentimes creative, but I cannot label it perfect.
This morning I was reading a New York Times Bestseller. There’s a typo on page 120. It’s not perfect, but a lot of people have bought it.
I am going to try to remember that I don’t have to be perfect to do what I want to do.
Is perfectionism always critical?
Is excellence and perfection the same thing?
What would you do, if “it” didn’t have to be perfect?

Swithching Labels
In the past, I have labeled myself a “procrastinator”. With a little whimsical insight, I now see that I am simply “deadline inspired”. Isn’t that better?
Being the nice girl that I am, I was somewhat horrified when I realized that the label “cheap drunk” could easily apply to me. (I do not need a lot of alcohol to feel its effect.) Add a twist of humor and I can switch that label to “efficient drinker”. Now, that’s much better. We all love efficiency don’t we?
Join the perception revolution! Switch your label today. Post it here for the world to see! If you need help with the spin, post a note and we’ll see what we can come up with.

There's Still Time
Another year is sliding into its second month. Did you get around to making your New Year’s resolutions?
All the hype around resolutions, as we flip the calendar from December to January, makes me anxious. I much prefer to make my New Year’s Resolutions at Easter. Don’t jump to conclusions; it doesn’t mean I’m late! You see, the way I see it, by Easter I’ve had time to settle into the New Year. I’ve gotten comfortable with it; can write it on my checks without having to scratch through it. Besides Easter brings us spring time and a sense of rebirth which I think makes it a highly appropriate time to become resolute in new behaviors.
I’m not encouraging you to break with your personal traditions or not to make New Year’s resolutions; however, I’m just saying if you didn’t get around to and you’re feeling badly about that, there’s still time!
Regardless of my personal preference, the New Year is underway and “women are beginning again”.
Share your strategies for setting personal resolutions, or share your current resolution and what you are doing to ensure your success!
